 1915
  • Shipping activities were in 1915 incorporated by the Odfjell family in Bergen, Norway. The initial activities were focused at transporting timber. As a consequence the Jo Tankers' vessels are still named after trees.
 1920's
  • Transporting lumber and dry cargo.
 1930's
  • First tanker built.
 1950's
  • The Odfjell's pioneer the chemical tanker trade.
 1960's
  • Innovating the first tanker with stainless steel tanks.
 1980's
  • Forming of the Jo Tankers pool.
  • Jo Tankers office opened in Bergen.
  • Jo Tankers Houston office opened
 1990's
  • First deep sea operator to obtain ISO 9002 and ISM accreditation.
  • First deep sea operator building large stainless steel double hull tanker.
  • Separation of ownership and management structure.
  • South America trade entered by acquisition.
   

 Recent developments
 2000
  • Alliance with Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore to improve planning and quality of maintenance.

 2005
  • Management systems and practices successfully audited and we were accredited by Lloyds Register with the ISO 14001 certificate.
 2006
  • Opened Jo Tankers Singapore office.

 2006 - 2008
  • Double hull conversion of 5 large tankers.
