Human resources are our most important asset. That is why we to an ever-increasing extent focus on the well-being and safety of our colleagues, as well as the working environment on board and ashore. We equally care for the families of our staff, their surroundings, possibilities and environment. When doing so, we also acknowledge that the global challenges related to either poverty or lack of opportunities are so infinitely much bigger outside of our own “community”. Although we realize that we cannot solve these issues on our own, we do believe that every effort counts. This is the background for several initiatives Jo Tankers has taken. Through aid and financial support to charities and development organizations, we wish to extend Jo Tankers internal care to some of those beyond our own organization.
These are updates of two of our recent initiatives. Through these and other activities Jo Tankers endeavour to bring real benefits to not only our own employees and their families, but also to those less fortunate.
Through the Plan Organization whole communities receive aid to develop their local infrastructure, and Jo Tankers is glad to participate in Plan’s work through sponsorship of 29 children of need in the Philippines.
The Jo Tankers sponsored mobile library contains books for all ages, audio and video equipment, writing materials and art supplies, toys and games. For more details regarding this project please check our journal volume 79, pg 21 and journal volume 76, pg. 27.
